PH curse opt-in/out

So Muriel here has a cool magical effect where, once he has left someone's sight, they forget he ever existed. Every time meeting him is like you've never seen him before in your life (he still remembers though).

This post is for clarifying how/if you want this magical effect to work on your character! You are not at all required to play with this aspect even if your character has no IC means of getting around it; chalk it up to being from different worlds.

I am also open to a variation where they forget him when not around him but do remember prior interactions when he is in sight, or it's difficult but not impossible to remember him when not around him. Feel free to play in the space a bit!

Note: If it DOES work on your character, this can eventually be circumvented by Muriel himself giving them a special poultice that will allow them to remember him. This will take CR building, as he is a grumpy hermit that willingly CHOSE this magical effect.

If you want to handwave repeated first-meetings whenever they run into each other, this is also the place to hash that out.

I'm fine with the default, at least from where I'm currently standing!

My characters:
Angel and Cerrit are not effected. Angel because he’s a dead guy and magic is fucky about him. Cerrit because of Inquisitive Rogue Bullshit.

Cecil and Sigma are susceptible, Cecil perhaps worse than most. “Your mind a dusty surface, so easily blown clean.” He might lose track in the middle of conversations.

Annabel Lee, somewhere in the middle, will figure out the bounds on the fly, perhaps based on rule of cool or rule of funny.

Obviously Zelda didn't forget him, since... blah blah Triforce of Wisdom, strong association with memories, it just feels appropriate, I think we discussed it IRL!

Gerry also can't be affected for much more clearcut reasons. Ceaseless Watcher turn your gaze upon that sexy thing. ;P

Mairi and Sally, on the other hand, completely susceptible. Mairi could theoretically take measures of her own to prevent this if she could ever remember to do so, but she's scatterbrained enough as is. Sally might find that the feeling of forgetfulness gives her bad anxiety.

NPCs are complicated so I'll talk to you about them on Discord!

Aaaaand lastly, if Bronwyn ends up being my fifth, they're sort of in-between. It's hard for them to completely forget someone who they can sense even when out of sight, but they also don't truly have any defenses against this, so there's this in-between of knowing they know Muriel but being unable to place how and weird deja'vu.

If that all works for you, lemme know! I can tweak as needed

Opting out with Ari, purely because while I think the concept is cool she'd react extremely negatively to the idea of her memory being deliberately tampered with and I don't want to close off all possibility of positive CR. (It's fine if they end up not getting along for other reasons! Just that she wouldn't be able to get over this in particular.)

I think Lev would be partially susceptible—they'd mostly forget Muriel unless he was in line of sight, but they wouldn't find it totally impossible to remember he exists. They have some ability to see through disguises and they can see ghosts, but I want them to be a little affected for the fun of it. It's an interesting complication!
